Course Entry Requirements
Domestic

SAE entry requirements vary depending on which course you are applying for, and whether you are a New Zealand or International student. Alternatively, simply check the chosen course page for the entry requirements relevant to you. If you are an international student visit SAE's international entry requirements.

A person is eligible to apply for entry who:

  • is a minimum of 17 years at the start date of the programme. Note, applicants aged less than 18 years old must apply with parental/guardian consent.

  • Has attained University Entrance (UE) or NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent) with related subjects

OR

  • Can satisfactorily prove that they have the potential to succeed in the programme and is over the age of 20 by the official start date of their programme of study

A person is eligible to apply for entry if they:

  • are a minimum of 17 years at the start date of the programme, Note: applicants aged less than 18 years old must apply with parental/guardian consent.

  •  have attained NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) with related subjects

OR

  • Can satisfactorily prove that they have the potential to succeed on the programme and is over the age of 20 by the official start date of their programme of study.

English as an Additional Language Applicant Requirement
  • English as an Additional Language (EAL) applicants are those for whom English is not their first language. This can include NZ residents.
  • EAL applicants must provide evidence of meeting the standard NZQA minimum English Proficiency Outcomes as set out in section 22 of the NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules.
  • Countries considered to be English-speaking are determined by NZQA and set out in the Rules.
  • The Academic Dean has the discretion to allow entry for domestic EAL applicants
