Course Entry Requirements
Domestic
SAE entry requirements vary depending on which course you are applying for, and whether you are a New Zealand or International student. Alternatively, simply check the chosen course page for the entry requirements relevant to you. If you are an international student visit SAE's international entry requirements.
Applicants for degree courses must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria:
- An applicant must be a minimum of 17 years at the start date of the programme.
- Completion of NCEA Level 3 or University Entrance qualification from a New Zealand secondary school or equivalent
- Good command of oral and written English
- Entry interview
Applicants for diploma courses must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria:
- An applicant must be a minimum of 17 years at the start date of the programme.
- Completion of at least NCEA Level 2, from a New Zealand secondary school or equivalent; OR adult entry if 20 years or older
- Good command of oral and written English
- An entry interview may be requested by SAE
Non-native English speakers need to provide additional evidence of language skills and complete one of the following:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): A band score of 6 or higher (only the Academic Test is accepted), OR
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A score of 550 or higher (paper based test), 60 or higher (internet based test)
